GUITARIST

Sonya is thirteen years old and a eighth grader. She has been playing the classical guitar for eight years with Jeremy Collins and Jim McCutcheon. In 2019 she placed first at the Boston Guitarfest competition in youth junior division. She placed third in that same competition in 2018. In 2019, she placed second in the Ohio Jr. Music Federation all state (Ohio) and all instruments competition. She placed first at the Indiana International Guitar Competition in 2022. She has opened for the Beijing Guitar Duo at the Cincinnati Guitar Society as a soloist and as a duo with her duet partner. She has enjoyed playing multiple times at the Cincinnati Nature Center. She has performed in masterclasses with Martha Masters, Thomas Viloteau, and Mak Grgic. In 2020 and 2022 she was a competitor in the Guitar Foundation of America youth junior division competition
